Battelle Symposium on Bioremediation and Sustainable Environmental Technologies, Miami, Florida, 22–25 May 2017

The Symposium addresses advances in bioremediation and the incorporation of green and sustainable remediation (GSR) practices in remediation in a series of technology-focused sessions.  The development and use of advanced tools for assessing and monitoring bioremediation and natural attenuation, as well as the challenges of applying bioremediation at various types of complex sites will also be considered.  Phil Dennis, SiREM, presents “Verification of Analytical and Amendment Approaches for an In Situ Microcosm Device for Testing Enhanced Bioremediation Processes”; and Jeff Roberts, SiREM, presents “Laboratory Bench-Scale Testing in Support of MNA.”  Fei Lou, University of Toronto (UT) will present “Monitoring and Enhancing Anaerobic Benzene Biodegradation in Groundwater Systems” covering a SiREM/University of Toronto joint research project.  Please Visit SiREM at Booth #117

International Symposium on Applied Microbiology and Molecular Biology in Oil Systems (ISMOS-6) San Diego, California, 6–9 June 2017

ISMOS is the largest event discussing microbiology and molecular biology in the oil and gas industry.  This conference explores the application of emerging microbial and molecular tools to help resolve challenges faced by the industry.  Sandra Dworatzek, SiREM, presents in the End User Workshop on the topic of positive impacts of bioremediation.  http://ismos-6.org/

International Passive Sampling Workshop and Symposium Toronto, Ontario, Canada, 1-2 June 2017

IPSW 2017 aims to attract a diverse audience, from experts in the development and application of passive sampling technologies to new users becoming more familiar with the advantages of passive sampling, working to advance the science and increase the use of passive sampling approaches to meet risk assessment, policy and regulatory needs.  Jeff Roberts, SiREM, presents on the SP3 sampling service “Using Passive Sampling as a Decision Making Tool” and Hester Groenevelt, SiREM presents “Quantitative Passive Soil Gas Sampling for VOCs – Mathematical Model, Lab Testing and Field Testing Results” www.ipsw.eu/2017/
