SiREM is the leading provider of molecular genetic techniques to detect
and quantify bacteria in the Dehalococcoides group, which
are required to ensure complete dechlorination of PCE and TCE past
DCE and vinyl chloride to ethene. We now provide five unique
services under the Gene-Trac banner.
Gene-Trac Services
- Quantitative-Gene Trac– Quantify the number of Dehalococcoides microorganisms
in your soil and groundwater samples using state-of-the-art real-time
PCR, ideal for monitoring changes in microbial populations over
time.
- Gene-Trac-VC -determine if a specific Dehalococcoides strain
contains a critical enzyme, called VC reductase, required for the efficient
conversion of VC to ethene. Researchers at Stanford University
have characterized VC-reductase and SiREM now offers “Gene-Trac-VC” a
test for this gene.
- Gene-Trac-Sequence- Want to know more about the type of Dehalococcoides organism
that is present at your site, Gene-Trac Sequence provides phylogenetic
information regarding the strain and its potential biodegradative capabilities.
- Gene Trac Archive – You don’t have to decide now what
samples you want to analyze, archive them for future or repeat comparative
analysis! This low cost option provides the opportunity to maximize
your results, and to observe how microbial communities and Dehalococcoides populations
change over time!
Add Gene-Trac to your next round of sampling to support MNA remedies,
predict where dechlorination activities will or are occurring, to
assess the need for bioaugmentation and to validate the performance
of enhanced bioremediation projects.
