Our Mission

SiREM was founded in 2002 to provide the highest quality testing services and remediation products, unparalleled technical support, increased remediation effectiveness, decreased remediation costs and peace of mind during field implementation. Our focus is supporting the remediation of chlorinated solvents, metals, petroleum hydrocarbons including BTEX, emerging contaminants and other recalcitrant contaminants in soil, sediment and groundwater. We also provide process specific wastewater treatment and process optimization and other evaluations that address the performance of industrial treatment processes, upset conditions, and how to correct them.

Research and Development/Technology Commercialization

SiREM is active in research and development (R&D) and collaboration with leading industry and academic research organizations. SiREM staff also participate as industry members to provide technical expertise to organizations such as the Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council (ITRC) that works to reduce barriers to the use of innovative air, water, waste, and remediation environmental technologies and processes.

Anaerobic BTEX Research Consortium including Industry University Researchers and SiREM
SiREM regularly provides samples and technical support to external research projects and our research partners regularly publish findings in leading technical journals and at industry conferences. Extensive and ongoing R&D keeps SiREM at the forefront of remediation and site characterization and sampling technology, allowing SiREM to provide leading edge products and services to our customers in this dynamic field.

Products and Services

SiREM is widely recognized as an industry leader in bioaugmentation for chlorinated solvent and BTEX remediation and for bench-scale treatability testing. Bench-scale treatability is a valuable tool that can be applied to a wide range of remediation technologies including enhanced in situ bioremediation (EISB), in situ chemical oxidation (ISCO), in situ chemical reduction (ISCR) and permeable reactive barriers. SiREM is a leading provider of a wide range of laboratory testing services for remediation site monitoring, management and optimization including Gene-Trac® testing for monitoring biodegradative microbes and other specialized analyses. SiREM is also at the forefront of site characterization passive sampling technology for a wide variety of organic and inorganic chemicals in sediment porewater / surface waters and VOCs in indoor/outdoor air/soil gas.

Outreach

SiREM routinely participates in industry and academic events including conferences, guest lectures, charitable and other community events that bring the environmental remediation and remediation technology into our communities with the goal of increasing the profile of these beneficial services.
