Devin Wang
Photonics Staff Professional, Knoxville
After graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering, the SiREM Photonics Service area caught Devin’s eye with how closely the work was related to his own interests. Since starting full-time in summer 2020, Devin has been workings closely with SiREM Photonics Laboratory Manager, Curtis Laush in developing and building FTIR Continuous Process Monitors for Photonics customers. He also supports Gene-Trac® SARS-CoV-2 testing and wastewater treatability studies in the Knoxville laboratory.
‘Contributing to the work carried out here at SiREM is very fulfilling, especially during this time of global crisis. I am so glad to be able to help out any way I can and am very excited to continue to learn and grow along with the company.’ -Devin Wang, Photonics Staff Professional
While earning his bachelor’s degree at Pennsylvania State University, Devin was doing research with the William H. Brune team in the department of Atmospheric Sciences: focusing on developing high atmospheric conditions at ground level in a confined space. Following his time with Dr. Brune, Devin interned at Chemcut Corporations where they focused on the semiconductor and circuit board manufacturing process, specifically working with Hydrofluoric Acid and Cupric Chloride etching processes.
In his free time, Devin likes to hike in the Smokey Mountains and enjoy the scenery. He also likes to travel around the world, visiting new places and looks forward to doing so again in the future.
