NitroGen provides critical data to understand and manage nitrogen-impacted sites and treatment systems. This data can be used to better select remediation strategies, monitor success, and optimize performance. Each NitroGen report includes background information, significance of test procedures, and high-level interpretation of the study results.

All NitroGen tests include the following:

  • Nitrogen species quantification
  • Electron donor quantification (volatile fatty acids and total organic carbon):

  • Understand if nitrate, nitrite, or ammonium are being converted to inert nitrogen gas.
  • Observe which biological pathways are active or dominant in your system.
  • Assess if there is sufficient electron donor for denitrification.
  • Assess potential for emissions of the potent greenhouse gas nitrous oxide.
