
Jacques Smith to present on Remediation at VOC Sites at GEC 2024
Jacques Smith, PhD, (Tennessee) will present “Remediation at VOC Sites” at the 2024 Georgia Environmental Conference on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. EDT at the Jekyll Island Convention Center, Jekyll Island, Georgia. In addition, Jacques will be available to speak with attendees at booth 104 in the conference hall.
Jacques manages the SiREM Knoxville laboratory. He is an expert in environmental laboratory testing, including next generation sequencing, coal combustion residuals (CCR) waste reclamation, leaching studies, settling and dewatering, and wastewater treatment processes.
The Georgia Environmental Conference is a large and comprehensive environmental education event held each year. The conference expects to welcome more than 750 attendees, including government officials, business and industry leaders, attorneys, engineers, landowners, architects, energy experts, water-planning-district employees, academics, public health officials, solid waste experts, and others with a strong interest in environmental activities in Georgia and the southeastern United States.
Abstracts
SiREM will present on their latest anaerobic DGG Plus BTEX-degrading cultures, focusing on benzene, toluene, and xylene degradation and the associated bacteria. The presentation will highlight the advantages of anaerobic degradation and showcase field studies where the cultures were injected to achieve successful removal following years of alternative remediation attempts.
